mot testing

we are one of the longest standing mot testing stations in darlington and the 1st in the country to have a rolling brake tester install by crypton.

the mot is a very important part of road safety in the uk. the mot test has changed dramatically over the years but one thing we hope will never change is our performance as we have always been awarded green status, the highest grade possible when we are assessed by the dvsa (driver and vehicle standards agency).

during the assessment we are tested on performance, knowledge, best practises, that all equipement is calibrated and in good order, premises tidiness and our statistics on results and failure reasons.

brake disc skimming service

we are one of the only independent garages in the north east who can offer this service. some high-performance vehicles brake discs can be very expensive (£200-£500 a disc and you need 2 of them), so it’s not surprising we get customers travelling from all over the Durham, Cleveland and Yorkshire area.

the main purpose we have one is - if you have a brake vibration/shudder on any type of car, replacing the brake discs will fix your problem but if there is excessive run out caused by a bearing not running true or a warped hub, then your problem will return a couple of months later. the fix is to skim your new discs on the vehicle, basically skimming out the buckle. it’s for this reason some vehicle manufacturers stipulate their franchised dealers must have one of these brake disc lathes.
